ARE YOU BREWING A COFFEE SHOP IN YOUR FUTURE?

(Jul 20, 2011 07:15 PM)

Coffee shops, as well as college houses/coffee bars, have become an important day-to-day scene and a hallmark in socializing.  Coffee drinkers are not only looking for excellent quality and great service, but for a good selection of coffee drinks, which are now readily available.

According to the National Coffee Association of U.S.A., Inc.* (2011 National Coffee Drinking Trends):
** 40% of 18-24 year olds drink coffee, which is up from 31% in 2010
** 54% of adults age 25-39 reportedly drink coffee daily, up from 44% in 2010
** Gourmet coffee continues to be a significant portion (37%) of total coffee consumed --
pointing to the fact that consumers desire to maintain coffee quality despite an uncertain
     economy

Further NCA Survey Results reveal: close to 53% of the U.S. population is over 18 years of age, of which are daily coffee consumers, in other words,  there are close to 108 million coffee drinkers per day.  So, out of that number, there is close to 30 million Americans drinking (gourmet) coffees every day.

Trends can be compared to ocean waves -- some crash quite quickly and disappear, while others take time to build up and hold their own for periods of time.  These days, it's  more trendy to have a TV cooking show rather own a restaurant, or sell products, such as clothing/cooking supplies/jewelry, on a national network than run personal establishments.  But the  'coffee culture' has been around for a long time, with coffee consumption going up, and 'specialty coffee shops' becoming more and more popular.  There is no better time than 'now' to get into action by opening up a coffee shop.

WOW! HAVE YOU HEARD?

(Jun 21, 2011 09:25 PM)

A new Alzheimer's mouse study at the University of South Florida has reported new findings that "an unidentified component of coffee interacts with the beverage's caffeine" and could be the explanation why coffee intake protects against Alzheimer's disease.  The University found this interaction increases blood levels of a critical growth element and this seemingly is able to ward off or delay this dreaded disease process.

According to Dr. Cao, a USF neuroscientist, we get our daily antioxidants by drinking coffee daily.  Since coffee is high on the list in anti-inflammatory compounds, we're already drinking protective benefits.  Unfortunately, drinks, such as, carbonated drinks, energy drinks, or even tea don't seem to possess the same protective benefits as caffeine in coffee.

So, it's important not to forget our daily caffeine fixes (maybe 4-5 at least of your favorite??), along with some physical and mental activity.  By combining these three, we can reduce Alzheimer risk or even delay it.

Have you hugged your espresso today?

(Jun 15, 2011 04:42 PM)

All over the United States coffee shops serving specialty coffee are bringing in espresso lover customers in droves.  No longer is a diner-style coffee acceptable.  Each morning, rain or shine, in business districts in cities like Seattle, Chicago and San Francisco, scores of office workers line up in front of coffee shops to get their morning 'fix' of cappuccino, latte or mocha.  Going out of the way, standing in line up to 10+ minutes and/or paying up to four times the price of 'regular coffee' has become the norm.

You do not have to have a muffin, a croissant, or scone every day, but you absolutely and positively have to have your 'latte or mocha fix' every day once you become 'hooked' to good coffee...... Experiencing that WOW COFFEE MOMENT beats regular coffee every time!
